Covid 19 Testing and Information

As Pakistan has witnessed the first, second and now the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, we took a number of safeguards in accordance with international best practices to provide safe environment at our facilities. These safeguards include restricting patient attendants and visitors, screening of all staff before entering our center enforcing social distancing, adhering to strict disinfection protocols, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as per World Health Organization protocols. Every one of us can play his role in fight against coronavirus.

PCR Covid-19

A PCR test for COVID-19 is a test used to diagnose people who are currently infected with SARS-CoV-2, the novel coronavirus. The PCR test is the “gold standard” test for diagnosing COVID-19 because it’s the most accurate and reliable test. During Covid-19 PCR testing, substances known as reverse transcriptase or DNA polymerase are added to a nasopharyngeal sample in a lab. These substances work to make numerous copies of any viral RNA that may be present. This is so that enough copies of the RNA are present to signal a positive result, as specifically designed primers and probes attach themselves to sequences of the genetic code of the virus to signal that a pathogen has been found.

HRCT
High-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) is more precise than chest X-Ray in the diagnosis and monitoring of diseases of the lung tissues and the airways. Modern CT equipment used at ALNOOR enables us to conduct a volume HRCT scan covering the whole lung tissues using technique to obtain thin-slice chest images and these are post-processed in a high-spatial-frequency. For diagnosis of Corona related lung health problems we diagnose and help doctors know prognoses by assessing the lung parenchyma. Under the able guidance of our health professionals we use only required dose of radiation.
